Adam & The Ants Adam & The Ants were an influential English new wave and post-punk band formed in London in 1977. Fronted by the charismatic Adam Ant, the group underwent a dramatic musical and visual reinvention in 1980 after manager Malcolm McLaren famously poached the original lineup. Embracing a flamboyant pirate aesthetic and a revolutionary, dual-drummer “Burundi beat” sound, they achieved massive success. Their multi-platinum 1980 breakthrough album, Kings of the Wild Frontier, and its follow-up, Prince Charming, dominated the charts with number-one hits like “Stand and Deliver” and “Prince Charming” before disbanding in 1982.
