De La SoulDe La Soul are a legendary American hip-hop trio formed in Long Island, New York, in 1987 by Posdnuos, Trugoy the Dove, and Maseo. Emerging as core members of the Native Tongues collective, they revolutionized hip-hop with their whimsical lyrics, jazz-infused samples, and messages of peace. Their groundbreaking 1989 debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, became an instant masterpiece, spawning the classic international anthem “Me Myself and I”. Known for their enduring influence and later collaborations—including Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc.”—the trio maintained deep critical respect, though Trugoy tragically passed away in 2023.
