ElectronicElectronic were an acclaimed English alternative dance supergroup formed in Manchester in 1988 by Bernard Sumner of New Order and Johnny Marr of The Smiths. Seeking a creative outlet away from their respective bands, they seamlessly fused Sumner’s synth-pop sensibilities with Marr’s iconic guitar work. The duo achieved instant global commercial success with their 1989 debut single, “Getting Away with It”, which featured guest vocals from Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant. Their self-titled 1991 debut album went gold, yielding major hits like “Get the Message”. They released three acclaimed studio albums before quietly disbanding in 1999.
