The Lotus EatersThe Lotus Eaters were an acclaimed English new wave and sophisticated pop band formed in Liverpool in 1982 by Peter Coyle and Jeremy Kelly. They achieved immediate, lasting fame in 1983 with their exquisite, melancholic debut single, “The First Picture of You”. Fusing lush acoustic guitars with romantic, poetic lyricism, the track became a defining classic of the era and out-peaked many of its peers on the UK charts. Their highly anticipated 1984 debut album, No Sense of Sin, spawned subsequent hits like “You Don’t Need Someone New” before internal friction led the band to dissolve in 1985.
