UB40 & Chrissie HyndeUB40 and Chrissie Hynde are legendary figures in British pop history whose careers famously intertwined. Formed in Birmingham in 1978, UB40 was a diverse working-class reggae band named after an unemployment benefit form. Meanwhile, Ohio-born singer-songwriter Chrissie Hynde moved to England and founded the rock band the Pretenders in 1978.

Hynde discovered UB40 performing at a London pub and invited them to support her chart-topping band on tour, launching them into stardom. Their creative partnership peaked in 1985 when their iconic duet cover of “I Got You Babe” became a global hit, reaching number one in the UK.
